Saturday my sister took me with her to buy garden seeds at her favorite nursery, Sunnyside Gardens. It was refreshingly small — only two greenhouses — and instead of hundreds of people like at J&J Nursery here, only a dozen or so were browsing the aisles of blooms and veggies. Cheryl helped me choose tender green beans, giant peas, and Serendipity sweet corn. She also talked me into a few seed potatoes and a bag of onions, and I threw in seeds for dark red beets just to be reckless. I added plant starts of sweet basil and green bell peppers to my cardboard box and everything fit so nicely and cost only $20. I can wait to plant!
