Today Isaiah and I spent a few hours outside planting flowers. He helped me plant the hanging baskets, and petunias, moss roses, hen and chicks, and a lovely ground cover called sedum in the flowerbeds. Turning over the soil, I found a fat caterpillar and showed it to Isaiah. He immediately fell in love, adopted it and named it Caterpilly, gave it a home in a small toy lunch box, and supplied it with leaves and sticks. He said he wanted to keep it forever and ever, but I was determined to keep it outside. At least they spent many happy hours playing together.

How cool--I just planted moss roses and hen/chicks yesterday! I'd never even heard of the roses before, but I picked them because they like the sun and need very little water. And have dozens of colors on one plant!!
