"In words, like weeds, I'll wrap me o'er,
Like coarsest clothes against the cold"

Today Charlotte went for a snow walk. By herself. I was cleaning the patio window (from the inside) and Isaiah was coloring at the counter. Charlotte pointed outside at the snow and begged to go out. I said it was too cold. She walked away and came back carrying her hat and her mittens. So I put them on with her coat and had her stand in Isaiah's boots. (She wears his around the house all the time; I can't figure out why she refused to get her own when I took her boot shopping.) I sent her out by herself in the backyard and watched as she made little footprints in the snow. She meandered under the pine tree, past the garden boxes, and then back to me.
