Like coarsest clothes against the cold"

On Saturday we had Mom's 60th birthday party lunch at Julie's church in Idaho Falls. When I arrived, Julie and her family had already set up tables and chairs, and Dan and Courtney were busy hanging balloons, streamers and banners. I set up my wildly colored tissue paper flowers in vases and displayed photos of our family and Mom and Dad on a table. We had yummy food, and cards celebrating both Mom and Dad, and games with prizes, and basketball, and lots of visiting. It just went perfectly. I was so happy to see my family work together and support each other. Later that evening all of us met up again to give Mom the other half of her gift that she has always dreamed of: a photo with everyone in it. We hired a photographer, planned a coordinating dress code, and all showed up and gritted our teeth against the wind and smiled. We took a picture with every single one of Mom's 21 grandchildren. What a feat! Then one with all of us in it: children, spouses, parents, and still had time to take individual family portraits. It was nothing short of miraculous and now we'll have gorgeous pictures to remind us of it.
