Saturday morning I was a bundle of nerves for my first ever piano recital as the teacher, and my first time playing at a recital in over a decade. Lynnette and her kids were early and dressed in Sunday best, as I had requested. Seth helped me set up the refreshment table and get the programs out. Then our audience arrived — all of Lynnette's family. We had a good little group: a sufficient size to practice our performing skills and make us nervous. I welcomed everyone and then we went right down the program. Michael and Kacie and Lynnette all played splendidly. It was a proud moment. And I made only a few mistakes on my second song. Michael and Kacie beamed when I presented them with their trophies. And after 15 minutes, it was all over and we ate chocolate chip cookies.
