"In words, like weeds, I'll wrap me o'er,
Like coarsest clothes against the cold"

Today I rode a bus with 80 preschoolers to the zoo with Isaiah's class. They were jumpy with excitement and the day didn't disappoint them. We saw elegant giraffes eating an old Christmas tree, and long-quilled black and white porcupines, and loops of vibrant green and yellow snakes coiled in tree branches. We also saw large tigers sparring in the snow and a new baby monkey jumping up and down near its mother. These fun animals made up for the cold weather and an outdoor picnic of lousy peanut butter sandwiches. At least I had juice boxes and a few chocolate cookies.
